The most wonderful time of the year

I do love fall. LOVE it, love it, love it! Fall has finally arrived. The air is cool and crisp. The tree lined streets are glowing with fall colors (or will be soon). Sweater weather, hot cocoa, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin soup, candy corns, honeycrisp apples, country drives, walks through fallen crunchy leaves....these are all things that I just love about fall and what make it my favorite season. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year to me and puts me in the best mood. (Okay it ties with Christmas. )

I have found yet another reason to love fall even more than I already do. Pumpkin Farms! Today we took the kids to Goebberts Farm in South Barrington. What a perfect day! The girls had so much fun rolling pumpkins all around, touching all the different types of gourds, climbing on hay bales, getting a CAMEL ride and a PONY ride, going to see all the different baby animals, running through the cornfield maze, etc. etc. etc. I could go on and on. Lets just say - great time. We'll be going back again next year for sure. We saw Annaliese's teacher there with her niece and nephew which was also fun. We forgot our camera but Miss Trieu had hers. Here are some pics that she took for us. (I'm hoping to figure out how to download pics from our cell phone too.)

The Christexans said...: Seriously a camel in Illinois? Wow. Annaliese is really looking like a big girl. Their faces just start to get thinner.
We just enjoyed the fall colors in the Jungfrau region. That is near Interlaken. This shouldn't sound so pretentious. It was amazing! No camels-bummer.

Did all of the King girlies get the very same fairy t-shirt? Please don't tell me you're willing to put all of them away for a natural disaster...

Alison said...: Kari- I hadn't thought about it but yes,I think I did play better when I wore the shirt. But Avrie didn't like me wearing it. She would say I'm too big.
Kir- Not to worry! We have so many shirts that I was not only able to stash some away in the emergency kit(wolves, cheetahs, frogs), but also save some to enjoy as everyday wear (kittens, puppies, fairies). They love 'em.; October 24, 2008 at 9:43 AM

04/14/14 - Officially out of her DOC band! Nice round head little baby!
04/15/2014 - Her first tooth just came through! Front bottom left to be exact! Hang in there baby girl. Teething is the pits for sure.
03/24/14 - Not sleeping through the night anymore..what?!
03/24/14 - Rolled from tummy to back today by herself twice!
02/14/14 - Found those toes! Loves to play with them!
02/20/14 - Bubbles and raspberries constantly
03/05/14 - Got her helmet today. Tollerating it.
02/12/14 -Doing so much better on Tummy Time
01/12/14 - Those fingers are in her mouth a lot. Is figuring out how to grab things intentionally.
01/05/14 - Kick, kick kick. She loves to kick! Batting at her toys.

12/29/13 - Gives me big smiles when I tickle her tummy! So sweet!
12/29/13 - Has been sleeping through the night pretty consistantly!
12/13/13 - Stayed home with a sitter by herself while the rest of us went to Nutcracker. I was so worried because she had just had her shots. Tylenol worked it's magic and she did great for our friend Laura. Laura gave her her first bottle and she did great!
12/17/13 - So Althea has started cooing and smiling! I'd say starting at about 7 weeks old. Also the last week or so she has a clogged tear duct. Boo. Hoping it clears itself up soon.
11/11/13 - Super sweet girl! Had her first colic night last night. But doing better already. Has found her hands and likes to put them in her mouth.
11/14/13 - Had her 4 week check up today. This girl is 90% in height and weight! Way to go little girl! Also got her Hepatitis shot. Not so fun.

New Tricks from Annaliese

10/20/2010 - doing great in first grade. Loves spelling and reading. Loves daisy girl scouts and her friends.
10/20/2010 - Started a sticker program...a sticker everytime she does something she has been asked to do the first time. At 10 stickers = silly band. It works! =)
05/06/2010 - In dinner prayers we heard "please bless us that we won't say potty words at church or the temple. Bless us to eat our fruits and vegetables. Bless avrie that she will try new foods so we can go to scoops...." Love this girl! Lately she has been doing rhyming prayers also..."Thank you for the birds and words. Thank you for trees and bees. Thank you for our beds and our heads...." =)
04/282010 - I know I've said this a million times but this girl can draw! She is really good at drawing princesses, cats and fairies. I tried to draw a cat and had to copy her b/c attempt I made was rediculous!
04/28/2010 - Reading like a pro! Loves making up stories and telling them to her sisters.
04/28/2010 - Also loves drawing dresses....very detailed dresses. She is amazing!
03/2014 - Learning Fair project completed on the composition light and research paper on Isaac Newton. Smartie Pants!
03/2014 - Helped her school to win the Lutheran Schools Spelling Bee! Way to go!
03/10/2010 - Why is it that all kindergarteners (mine included) think that the word underwear is the funniest thing ever. Oh please let this be a short phase!
03/10/2010 - This week she has been playing a lot of dress ups and princess type play. This is unusual for her. she would usually opt for pretending to be an animal.
02/17/2010 - Spent her birthday at Disneyland! Had a week long celebration in CA with grandparents and cousins to help us celebrate! Love this girl!
02/02014 - Came in 4th place in her school spelling Bee. Qualified her for the shcool team!
01/15/2009 -I can't believe my baby is getting ready to turn six soon. She has become such a good reader! She continues to draw amazing picutures and have fun playing with her sisters and friends from school and church.

New Tricks for Avrie

12/2013 - Ice Skates for Christmas....fell and fractured her wrist. She is an amazing skater and will keep at it!
11/2013 - Baptized!
09/15/2010 - Words from my picky eater, "Actually, I do like raviollis."
09/15/2010 - When sisters told her that the sun is actually a start Avrie says, "Duh...Even guys with cigarettes know that."
09/15/2010 - We are in to jokes. I believe she made this one up...or at least she likes to claim she did. "What did the nut say at the end of the prayer?" "Al men" (Almond) Silly girl.
08/2013 - Swim lesson are really paying off! This girl is a swimmer!
07/15/2010 - Is always saying "Do you want to know something interesting...." Also is constantly asking what words mean. Curious Avrie.
06/15/2010 - loves building things with her duplo legos.
05/15/2010 - "Googo is the king of the numbers."
04/28/2010 - My baby who loves her "silky bilkey" is letting her sisters sleep with her favorite blanket. It is sweet but makes me sad that she doesn't need it anymore. She is growing up.

04/28/2010 - Has really gotten into drawing lately. She loves to write "i (heart shape) u" on everything. It is her signature. She loves to give people a drawing and write I love you on it. Nearly everyday when we pick up annaliese from school she gives Mrs. J a picture.
04/28/2010 - For career day at school she dressed up as a builder. She wore a little tool belt apron and had it loaded with tools. One thing she also carried around all day was a sweet note from Annaliese. Avrie has really been loving on her big sister lately. Sweet girl.
04/28/2010 - Avrie has a sticker chart. She gets a sticker for trying new foods or sometimes for eating all her food. This girl is a toughy! Today she ate a bite of apple and oh the drama! Apple! No skin! Common Avrie!
03/2014 -Finally lost her left front tooth. Loose since before Christmas! Tenacious Tooth!
03/2014 - Completed her learning fair project on Birds. Way to go Avrie!
03/2013 - Surgery on her birthmark. Good sport. Love her!
03/12/2014 - Had her hemangioma scar examined. Looks like a second surgery is needed. Boo!
03/10/2010 - New favorite color is black. What?
03/10/2010 - Cracking me up when she pretends to be a fierce mountain goat (claws and hisses)...or a handicap mountain goat (sits on the scooter and scoots while maaaaing.)
02/15/2010 - Have I ever mentioned this girl is the hair accessory queen? Always wears a headband at the very least. Often currly ribbons and bows are clipped to the head band. Also she likes to clip bow clips to all of her stuffed animal ears.
01/15/2010 - Has been really into her drawings lately. She loves to draw smiley face heart people with bows in their hair. Darn cute!

New Tricks by Adeline

11/2013 - Has been having tummy trouble. Visiting GI dr to see if we can find the problem.
10/20/2010 - There is another Addie in her class...so she is learning to write Adeline or to remember to write Addie K.
10/20/2010 - Loves all fruit and veggies! The other day I had to say "Addie, no more vegetables until you eat more of your dinner." Seriously! =)
10/20/2010 - Joke made up by addie "What did the cat say when she saw Jesus do something? "It's a meowicle!" Silly girl.
10/20/2010 - Is loving school. She is social and doing well with her work.
10/20/2010 - Eats Clementine oranges by the case. She likes to peel them and then count how many peels it takes her to peel it.
08/2013 - Sugery on her eyes. Hang in there Addie! You are beautiful!

04/28/2010 - This girl is pretty easy going but when she decides not to be...she is immovable! We are working on her not saying "But mom...." after every request I make. =)
04/28/2010 - Love her kisses. Before bed or before school she must kiss both of my cheeks and give me a huge hug. Love this girl!
04/28/2010 - Is starting to try to say THanks instead of Ganks. I'm proud of her but sad a little sad that she is growing up.
04/28/2010 - Funny girl! Loving dance class! She is a natural.
04/15/2014 - Was a champion holding still for her MRI today! Had to have her entire spine done. She won the hearts of the nurses there for sure! (She already had mine!)
03/2014 - Learning fair project on Moose. Love this girl!
03/2013 - Really good at model making. This girl has a knack for projects. Came home today and she was teaching herself to knitt!
03/10/2010 - Did great at the denist today. Has a cracked roon in one of her teeth? No wonder it hurts!
03/10/2010 - Colors so well! OH MY GOSH she is good!
03/10/2010 - "Pooped means your tired" "pooped, pooped, pooped...." I think it was her that also likes to point out that the letter P is okay to say.
01/30/2010 - Is working on earning stickers for her chart. What ever it takes to get her to not wake mom and dad in the night! Working hard to earn that prize!
01/15/2010 - This girl is by far the most outgoing and extroverted in our family. I love the way she can make anybody smile just by being herself.
